The Caves is one of Dahab's most scenic southern dive sites, known for its dramatic overhangs and playful light effects. Despite the name, the site features shallow caverns and large reef overhangs rather than true caves, making it accessible to divers of all levels.
Entry is typically a giant stride from a rocky ledge, best attempted in calm conditions. Once underwater, you'll find a shallow reef on both sides and a gentle sandy slope leading down to a maximum depth of around 22 meters. The reef is teeming with soft and hard corals, and divers often encounter groupers, scorpionfish, moray eels, and schools of anthias and bannerfish.
The Caves is best dived during high tide and calm seas to ensure a safe entry and exit. The site is ideal for underwater photography due to the unique light filtering through the overhangs. A local dive guide is recommended to navigate the site effectively and to point out the diverse marine life.
Whether you're a beginner looking for a gentle dive or an experienced diver seeking stunning underwater landscapes, The Caves offers a memorable diving experience in Dahab.
